“…if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”

(2 Chronicles 7:14)

“Let us remember, as people of faith, that our primary mission is not to have a political ideology, it’s to change the world so that every man, woman, boy, and girl can experience true freedom.”

– Mike Huckabee

Mr. Huckabee’s words are a remind of a Christians primary mission. When Christians focus on their primary mission of glorifying God, then they fall into second-rate living. A Christian’s primary mission can be lost in second-rate living.

God has not called Christians into a second-rate life. Instead, He has called them in to an excellent life. God wants His people to approve the things that are excellent. (Philippians 1.10) He does not want us focusing on the complaining and griping of the world, but He wants us to shine as lights in the world (Philippians 2.14-15)

The thoughts and cares of the world can choke out the excellent living God has designed for us. (See the parable of the Sower in Matthew 13) The things in the world are passing away quickly and we, as God’s people, but be sure we are speaking of the true freedom that one can enjoy because of Christ.

The world and its politics are passing away, but those who find themselves in the palm of God’s hand will endure.

Our prayer for our nation is that its leaders and its citizens will see the true freedom of which we will enjoy if we turn back to God.  The words of 2 Chronicles 7.14, while being written to God’s people Israel, bring motivation to each Christian today. We know that God hears our prayers, and we want Him to heal our land.

“…if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14)

May we pray today our primary mission does not fade from our eyes.

May our land be healed.

Father, with humble hearts we approach Your throne today. It is our prayer that we do not lose our primary focus. May our eyes always be set on you and may our lives be spent glorifying You. As the world sends us difficulties, may You bring us into Your peace. May we find shelter in your loving arms.

Father, today also, we pray for Your healing. We request Your healing upon those suffering sickness and pains, whether physical or spiritual. Also, Father, we pray for healing upon our land. Our nation has its share of problems and we ask for Your hand of healing to be upon us.

Father, our nation needs you. We need You in each life in our land.  May we, as Your people, not forget that You are the Almighty. May we remember that You alone are the One worthy of our praise. May we remember that You have given us a mission. May we glorify You.

Father, we need You.

In Your Son’s name, Jesus, we ask these things……Amen.
