Will You Be Accepting?
Days Until the Election
“Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment.”
Will you accept the results God provides?
Recently, the media seems focused on the acceptance of the election results as the time grows closer. With the different types of voting that are happening around the country, there are discussions about exactly when the winner will be declared. When this happens, people become discouraged, upset, and emotions definitely run high.
We must remember that God is in control.
Here is a hard question for you, “After the election is over, are you willing to accept the results?”
Maybe you are strongly focused on one candidate more than the others, if your candidate does not receive the votes to win, will you accept the results?
Christians probably see the results different than the world.
As Christians, we must remember that God is in control. God has a reason for what He does, and we must remember that His thoughts are greater than our thoughts. His ways are greater than our ways. (Isaiah 55.9)
May we, are children of God, be willing to accept the will of God in our lives.
Remember what Paul told the Roman Church?
“Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment. For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad.
Would you have no fear of the one who is in authority? Then do what is good, and you will receive his approval, for he is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God’s wrath on the wrongdoer.
Therefore one must be in subjection, not only to avoid God’s wrath but also for the sake of conscience. For because of this you also pay taxes, for the authorities are ministers of God, attending to this very thing. Pay to all what is owed to them: taxes to whom taxes are owed, revenue to whom revenue is owed, respect to whom respect is owed, honor to whom honor is owed.” (Romans 13:1-7; emphasis mine)
Paul was not just speaking words, he was speaking the truth of God. To know that God is in control should be a comfort for the Christians across the world. Times might be hard, the way might seem foggy, but knowing that God is in control means everything to a child of His.
Father, open our hearts. Open our hearts to receive Your will and receive the results of many things in our lives. Father, we know Your ways are greater than ours, but remind us daily that You know best.
Remind us, Father, that Your Word is a lamp to our feet. As we move closer to this election process, may the pages of our Bibles be turning to dig deeper into You will for our lives.
Father, no matter the results, the outcome, or the nations thoughts regarding the election, may we always have our minds focused upon You.
Father, we thank you for your continual care and love toward us.
In Jesus name, Amen.
