“Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.” (1 Peter 5:8)

Samuel Chadwick is noted as saying,

“The one concern of the devil is to keep Christians from praying. He fears nothing from prayerless studies, prayerless work, prayerless religion. He laughs at our toil, mocks at our wisdom, but trembles when we pray.” [1]

Christians must remember that we are in a daily battle against Satan. We remember that our battle is not against each other, but Satan. (Read yesterday’s thought on Unity)

Satan is a divider and a terrorizer. If Satan can divide the believers of God and have them battle each other, then his job becomes a little easier as he destroys lives daily.  Even Paul said,

“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.” (Ephesians 6:12)

We are in a battle. It is not a battle of Republican vs Democrat, right vs. left, but a battle of Truth vs. Satan. It is a spiritual battle. It is a spiritual battle where Satan uses physical things to draw us away from God. He will use every tactic to remove your mind from its proper place.

The Apostle Peter says, “Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.” (1 Peter 5:8) Satan is ready to devour you and he will do what he can, using what he can, to pull you away from God. Don’t let him!

Be on your guard and put on the full armor of God. (Ephesians 6.10-18)

Do not let politics pull you away from God. Do not let the political views of man ruin your relationship with your brothers and sisters in Christ. We, because of Christ, are better than the world. We have a greater hope and a greater future.

Continue to pray. Pray for our nation, your family, your friends, the church and for you.

As Christians, let us keep praying. We may learn and simple prayer when we are young, but are we continuing to pray when grow old?

Father God, with humble hearts we come before you today. As we realize the spiritual battle in the world, may we grow closer to You. May You always be our shelter, our hope, and our refuge.

As we are engaged in a spiritual battle, lift us up. Lift us so we may see Your good works and let them be a beacon of light before us. May our focus always be on the prize ahead, not the world behind.

Father, we need You now more than ever. Care for us. Love us. Protect us. Forgive us.

In Jesus name…Amen.
