Less than 30 days until the election!

Days Until the Election

As Sunday draws to a close, remember to pray.

We know we have said to “remember to pray” many times over the past week, but prayer is crucial to the life of a Christian. Our communication with God is a necessary part of our relationship.

Typically, we pray several times on Sunday. When we attend services, we are led in pray by a few men during our worship time. When we eat, we pray together before the meal. In the evening, we are led in prayer again by the several men of the congregation during our evening services.  Sunday is a prayer day.

Are you praying on other days like you pray on Sunday?

I am sure that many people are praying just as hard during the week as they pray on Sunday. Others may find it hard to pray during the week because of time struggles and the busyness of each day.  I believe it is a human fault that we might forget to pray. We intend to pray, but we get so caught up with other things that it slips.

Here are a few small tips that may help with your weekly prayer habits:

Set an alarm on your phone—Probably everyone carries a pheon with time wherever they go, so why not use it as much as you can? You can set an alarm on your phone during a certain period of the day to remind you to pray. In fact, you can set a few alarms each day as reminders to stop for a minute and offer a prayer to God.

Pray at mealtime—Most of us pray during our mealtime. It is a teaching we received when we were younger, and it has lasted throughout our lifetime. However, when you pray at mealtime, add other areas outside of food to your prayer/ Remember to pray for our nation, the election and peace.

Pray when you think about it—When the thought crosses your mind, pray.  Your prayer need not be a 5 minutes prayer, God hears the quick prayers too. You can pause for a moment and offer your praise, adoration, or ask God your requests.

Father, we need to be stronger in our prayers to You. Help us. Help us find the time, the passion, and the words to speak to You. May we always remember that You are listening to us. Let Your attentive ear be our encouragement to speak to You.

Lord, our election day is drawing near, we need Your grace, mercy, and peace. As the date draws closer, the tensions of men are running higher. The nation seems very divided during this time. We need Your healing hand.

Father, be with our land and its people. Be with our fellow citizens. Give them wisdom, peace and understanding.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
